Hello WMHCA members,
I am seeking counselor educators to participate in my generic qualitative study. This study is part of the researcher’s doctoral education program and is being conducted to fulfill the degree requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy in Counselor Education and Supervision through Capella University. The purpose of this study is to explore counselor educators’ beliefs about what contributes to their agency to integrate suicide prevention into teaching and supervising counselors-in-training. The results from the study will be used to complete my dissertation.
If you are interested in participating, please review the information below:
inclusion criteria:
- Hold a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program;
- Have current or past experience teaching clinical skills courses (e.g. residency, pre-practicum, practicum, internship);
- Currently employed as a core faculty member in a CACREP-accredited program in the United States; and,
- Working in a master’s program teaching clinical mental health counselors-in-training.
Exclusion criteria:
- Experienced the death of a client by suicide in the past five years;
- Experienced the death of a loved one by suicide in the past five years;
- Experienced personal suicidal ideation and/or suicide attempts in the past five years; and,
- Those who know the researcher (e.g., friends, peers, colleagues).
What does participation entail?
- Participating in a 45-60 minute semi-structured interview online via doxy.me
- Participating in member checking to make clarifications or corrections to how your interview data gets interpreted
