Member Registration

Membership Options: Our membership categories have recently changed. 

Clinical Members

  • Holds State Licensure
  • Completed a master's degree or higher in mental health counseling or a related field covering the basic principles of clinical mental health counseling 
  • Primary work is in the direct delivery of counseling services. 

Professional Members (Formally Regular Members)

  • Does not hold state licensure. 
  • Completed a master's degree or higher in mental health counseling or a related field covering the basic principles of clinical mental health counseling.

Emerging Professionals (Formally Associates)

  • Holds an associate license and is working toward full licensure. 
  • Completed a master's degree or higher in mental health counseling or a related field covering the basic principles of clinical mental health counseling.

Student Members (Not Licensed)

  • Not currently licensed.  
  • Choose clinical membership if you are a fully licensed student.
  • No CEs are awarded for workshops for student members.
  • Enrolled in master's program or higher in mental health counseling or a related field covering the basic principles of clinical mental health counseling.

Retired Members

  • Holds a retired license. 
  • Completed a master's degree or higher in mental health counseling or a related field covering the basic principles of clinical mental health counseling.

All of these designations have voting rights.

If you work at a non-profit community mental health center licensed by the state (part of the Washington Council for Behavioral Health) we offer 50% off of your membership.  If you are a student we offer free membership for the first year.

We offer discounted memberships to people who also work in human resources.
