SCHOLARSHIPS

In 2023 WMHCA started The Dr. Ellen K. Carruth Diversity & Inclusivity in Counseling Scholarship for to the most outstanding applicant.  The scholarship was named after a past beloved board member and fierce advocate of diversity and inclusion for all marginalized individuals.  You can donate to the scholarship below.  WMHCA will contribute $1000 to this scholarship.  All other applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be entered into a lottery for $500 scholarships. WMHCA is committed to providing eight $500 scholarships.

2024- 2025 WMHCA Scholarship Application Criteria

Applications must:

  • Must be a Member of WMHCA (if this is a barrier email Shannon)
  • Must reside and/or attend a graduate program in Washington.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program.
  • Must plan to apply for the LMHCA/LMHC credential.
  • Must demonstrate financial need. 
  • Must demonstrate a connection to one or more of the scholarship categories. 
  • Must demonstrate a clear understanding and connection to WMHCA's mission and values.
  • Must demonstrate a commitment ot provideing culturally responsive services to identified client communities.  

Scholarship Eligibility Categories

  • Diversity and Equity: Students of historically marginalized identities with particular attention to BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTGEQIAP+, and disability identities.
  • Rural: Students from rural areas who demonstrate a commitment to work in and serve an area designated as rural by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
  • Military: Students who are active-duty service members, veterans, or spouses of active-duty service members or veterans.

Applications are due October 31, 2024

Applicants will be notified of awards December 1, 2024

DONATIONS

Thank you for considering donating directly towards WMHCA's scholarship initiative.  Your donation will make a difference for someone who is pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in clinical mental health counseling or related field.

NOTE: Contributions to WMHCA's scholarship initiative are not deductible as a charitable contribution on the donor’s federal income tax return. They may be deductible as trade or business expenses if ordi­nary and necessary in the conduct of the taxpayer’s business. Donors should consult an accountant.  WMHCA will list donor contributions on our website.

100% of of all donations go directly to our scholarship fund. WMHCA covers processing fees. The donation form is below.
