The Washington Mental Health Counselor Association is accepting nominations for the board for the 2025-2026 cycle. WMHCA is passionate about supporting clinicians through education, advocacy, and membership outreach. 

WMHCA is accepting nominations for the following positions:

President-Elect: serves a 3-year term. (1 year as president elect, 1 year as president, 1 year as past-president)

Secretary: serves a 2-year term

Graduate Student Representative: serves a 1-year term

General Board Members: serves a 2-year term

Any member of WMHCA is able to apply for these positions if they have been a member for at least one year.

Qualifications and Commitment of a WMHCA Board Member

  • Has been a member in good standing for at least 1 year.
  • Demonstrated leadership commitment and involvement with WMHCA or the non-profit community. For instance, someone who has served on an WMHCA committee or task force or volunteered for a different non-profit.
  • Has expertise in the field of clinical mental health counseling and demonstrated dedication to the field. Examples include familiarity with federal and state regulations, private practice, community mental health, integrated care, counselor education and evidence-based practices, ethics, to name a few.
  • Committed to attend board meetings and to serve on one WMHCA committee.
  • Committed to attend required board trainings and onboarding meetings.
  • Thinks strategically and is able to work collaboratively with others.
  • Committed to the organizations mission: The Washington Mental Health Counselors Association is a LEADER in promoting human dignity in mental health. Our distinct professional identity embraces anti-racism, anti-ableism, education, public policy, community building, and relational advocacy. WMHCA is transforming counseling by integrating anti-racism into all aspects of the profession.

Nominations close: March 7th, 2025 at 5:00 pm

Voting opens: March 24, 2025

Voting closes: April 4, 2025

Announcement of Election Results: April 11, 2025

Terms start: July 1, 2025
