WMHCA.org Privacy Policy

We, the Washington Mental Health Counselors Association (WMHCA), a state chapter of the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA), are committed to protecting the privacy our members. This statement of privacy explains website data collection and use.

What Data is Collected?

As a visitor to the WMHCA website (https://wmhca.org/), you are able to engage in many activities without providing personal information. WMHCA does not require users to complete a registration form in order to browse our website. WMHCA does not collect any personal information, such as names, addresses, credit card numbers, or social security numbers, from users browsing our website. You are only required to provide certain personal information to WMHCA if you are ordering a product or service from WMHCA, or are attempting to apply or renew membership with WMHCA. Only aggregate data – such as the number of hits per page – are collected. Aggregate data are only used for internal and marketing purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information. As a visitor to the site, you are able to engage in many activities without providing personal information.

Members

In order to gain access to members-only resources and personalization features on www.wmhca.org, members and other users are asked to register and provide information. To gain access to some of the members-only or subscription-based areas of WMHCA’s website, users are asked to provide their name, address, email address, phone number, sometimes their graduation date and may choose to provide WMHCA with their credit card accounts to make payments. This information is submitted voluntarily. Similar information from members is submitted on applications, conference registrations, and public orders/subscriptions. You have the right to access and correct your personal information and privacy preferences at any time. With respect to profile information, this may be accomplished by linking to your account and clicking on “Add/Edit Member Info” where you can view and make changes to your personal information. In connection with other activities, you will be asked to provide certain information about yourself by filling out and submitting a form. How do we use data collected?

Services. Generally, WMHCA uses data it collects to improve web content, respond to visitors’ interests, needs and preferences, to develop new products and services and to provide individuals and their companies with information about complimentary WMHCA products services, promotions or special offers.

Third Parties. On the website, you can determine what information to include in your profile.  This profile information is available to public members who browse the membership registry on the website. WMHCA does not make lists of member contact information available through the online membership directory to third parties that offer products and services.

Credit Card

WMHCA does not disclose credit card account information provided by its members and customers. When members choose to pay using their credit cards, WMHCA submits the information needed to secure payment from the appropriate clearinghouse.

Choice/Opt Out

We provide you with the opportunity to opt-out of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes. If you are a member of WMHCA or ordered a product or service form WMHCA and no longer wish to receive promotional communications from WMHCA, you may opt-out of receiving such communications by following the link within those messages or by contacting WMHCA at sara@wmhca.org.

Sharing Membership Lists with Parent Organization

WMHCA may share membership lists with AMHCA, its parent association, for mutual marketing to recruit members from these respective organizations. When WMHCA agrees to share membership information with AMHCA, it requires AMHCA to not share member information with any external third parties.

This privacy policy is for this website only. If you link to other websites, please review the privacy policies posted on those sites. Please be aware that WMHCA is not responsible for the privacy practices of any websites not owned or controlled by WMHCA, including AMHCA.

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post these changes to this privacy statement and to other places that we deem appropriate so that you are aware of the information that we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, is the information disclosed. If at some point we decide to use personally identifiable information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time this information was collected, we will notify users by way of email.

We reserve the right to disclose your personally identifiable information as required by law when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or otherwise to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order or other legal process.
